The beautiful surroundings

Domaine Barreaux is situated in a region offering countless opportunities for unforgettable excursions. There’s something for everyone: enjoy the endless nature, soak up the culture, explore a city, or visit a goat farmer in the countryside. Even those who love adventure have a wealth of options.

Moulins

Moulins is the capital of the Allier department and owes its name to the numerous water mills along the Allier River. The town is home to many remarkable sights, including the Gothic-style cathedral, the Sacré-Cœur in neo-Gothic architecture, and the Jacquemart Belfry, built between 1451 and 1455.

Those who enjoy culture paired with a good meal or drink can visit Place de l’Allier and the Grand Café, built in Art Nouveau style. Famous visitors such as Georges Simenon and Coco Chanel were regular guests.

The Centre National du Costume de Scène is a museum in Moulins dedicated to costumes and stage sets, housing more than 20,000 costumes.

Vichy

Vichy is famous for its thermal spas, with springs renowned for their relaxing and healing qualities. But that’s not all—there’s plenty to experience in this beautiful city. The stunning Art Nouveau opera house and the Saint Blaise Church are just a few of the many impressive buildings worth visiting.

Nature lovers can enjoy walking or cycling, and relax at one of the many cafés or restaurants along the Allier River. Napoleon Park, covering 13 hectares and situated between the river and the spa buildings, completes the charming atmosphere of the town.

Charroux

Charroux is located in the valley of the Sioule River and is known for its medieval buildings and narrow streets. It is part of “les Plus Beaux Villages de France.” In this charming village, you can still find many artisanal products such as oil, mustard, jams, glass etching, sculpture, painters’ studios, candle makers, and potters. Walking through the cobbled streets and alleys, you can discover all these crafts while also enjoying the cafés and restaurants housed in traditional timber-framed buildings.
